'Color Our World' Summer Reading Club is here!

Sign up at the library starting June 9.

Open to ALL ages -- no library card required.

Everyone gets a free book to keep just for signing up.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

CHILDREN (up to 5th grade) and Family Readers (not yet reading independently): Earn journey beads or stickers for reading (or being read to) and a prize for every two hours, up to 10 hours.

Teens (entering 6th grade up to age 18): Earn scratch-off tickets to redeem for small (and larger) instant prizes throughout the summer. Get two tickets for every two hours spent reading.

ADULTS (18 & up): The first 25 adults to sign up get a free tie-dye sports bag. Complete book reviews for a chance to win a prize at the end of the summer (each review earns a raffle ticket). Complete a bingo and get a chance to win a prize at the end of the summer -- plus another free book! Prizes include: A $50 Barnes & Noble gift card; $25 Staples gift card; jigsaw puzzle basket; arts and crafts basket, and a journaling supplies basket.

There is no better way to kick off summer than with a colorful ice cream sundae! Come enjoy a colorful build-your-own sundae, and if you haven't already, sign up for Summer Reading Club and pick out a free book to keep.

Summer Storytimes

Summer means storytime at the library, and we have lots of fun choices to choose from...plus, all storytimes are drop in; no registration required.

Summer Storytime with Miss Sue: Wednesdays @ 10:30 a.m., June 11 through August 20. All ages.
Infant & Toddler Circle Time: Mondays @ 10:30 a.m., June 23 through August 4. Infants through 24 months.
Bilingual Storytime with Ms. Yanitza: June 18 (Wed.), July 19 (Sat.), and August 13 (Wed.) @ 3 p.m. Elementary ages. No knowledge of Spanish necessary!
Girl Scout Storytime with Miss Katey: Monday, June 16 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 5 and up.
Storytime with meLVin the LV Phantoms Mascot: Wednesday, June 25 @ 10:30. All ages.

Sound Sprouts Piano Camp for ages 6-9

Monday-Friday, June 16-20, 10 AM-12 PM

Just three spots left for Sound Sprouts Piano Camp with Laurel Nolin! Join Laurel for a fun, five-day exploration of beginning piano and music with movement for ages 6 to 9. No instrument, materials, or experience required--and it's free!

Make some tiny art to display at the library

Help us make the library more colorful to celebrate this year's summer reading theme: Color Our World! We'll be displaying a tiny art gallery throughout the summer featuring YOUR art.

Join us for one of two sessions -- Monday, June 9 @ 6 p.m. or Saturday, June 14 @ 11 a.m. -- to create your own masterpiece on a 5x7 canvas. The art created at these sessions will be featured on miniature easels in the library, and participants may pick up their creations to take home between 8/18 and 8/23.

For ages 10+ and adults. Sign up online. Walk-ins also welcome if there's room.

Art with color (for grades 3-8) with Rita Richetti

Let's get creative! Local artist and educator Rita Richetti (...who also happens to be exhibiting her paintings at the library this month; see below) will lead two fun and interactive 90-minute sessions in basic color theory for beginners.

Both sessions will be held Friday, June 13. A session for grades 3-5 begins at 1 p.m., and a session for grades 6-8 begins at 3 p.m. Sign up online!

ART@EPL: Rita Richetti

While your budding Picassos explore their creativity and learn about color theory with local artist Rita Richetti, step into the children's wing and explore her masterful paintings featuring flowers, landscapes, and expressive animals--on display through the end of the month.

Don't forget...works of art from exhibits such as Rita's are available for purchase, with a portion of each sale benefiting the library. So, if you see something you like and wish to own, please contact Sue Skoras for info.

June 27: Sew Colorful Pillows

Come sew with Lisa Marten and the Quilters for two fun and colorful projects:

10:15 a.m. to noon: Reading pillow with pocket to store your book or reading buddy.
1-4 p.m.: Bento-block design pillow to brighten up your decor.

Sign up online for one or both sessions, open to 4th grade and up through adult. Sessions are limited to 8 participants. All materials provided and some sewing machines are available. Please bring your own if you have one.

Plant A Row begins June 16

Share the harvest from your garden this summer with local families in need by dropping off produce at the library for Plant A Row LV. The season's first weekly pickup is Monday, June 16.

Place washed produce in the cooler by the bike rack near the library entrance on Sundays after 6 p.m. or Mondays by 10 a.m. If possible, use plastic containers from store purchases (such as berries) to protect tomatoes and delicate items.
